During PIR days last week, SKC Upward Bound got together with a some of our students. 22 students did ACT prep testing with Joanne and Luke, while 6 students worked with Heather on a college prep workshop. 28 students then went on a trip to Helena, touring Helena College and Carroll College. Students also saw “Wicked Tavern Tales” at Carroll College, an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s work. Overall the trip was a success!
This spotlight is focused on Olijah James, Trisha Lafferty, Jayson McCrea, and Mars Sandoval. This group of students went down to Missoula to participate in the “Mentor Days” filmmaking workshop at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival on February 22-23.Â “I think I might take up journalism now. Congratulations to Liz Morigeau and Agness Nomee for being accepted to theÂ College HorizonsÂ program! College Horizons is a one week intensive pre-college program that provides students with advising opportunities. Students are also exposed to 45-50 colleges and universities, including schools such as Columbia University, Dartmouth University, Duke University, Harvard University, and Yale University. Last weekend on March 8th, SKC Upward Bound hosted 21 of our students for a celebration of TRiO and American civil rights. To learn more about TRiO, click here.
